election “season” too long?

Does anyone else think that the US presidential elections are taking too damned long? The more time the democrats have, the more time they’ll have to mess up their campaign. Here’s some thing good from the good folks at onion indirectly about the protracted campaign:

i stand corrected

i was wrong about that tuberculosis claim.  it is possible to get tuberculosis in europe.
the translation of the article’s title, Lebensgefahr durch Tuberkulose steigt - 22 Fälle in der Schweiz in vier Jahren sind Europa-Durchschnitt is roughly,”globalisation of ghetto diseases.  switzerland’s 22 infected in 4 years is europe’s average”

sarko : casse toi pauvre con

i didn’t get around to remarking on this last night.
although i find his politics questionable, i like sarko’s no-nonsense way of dealing with things.  he’s all about, “kicking ass and taking names”.   its great in this video how he can switch from cheerio baby-kissing hand-shaking statesman to pissed-off taking-care-of-business mafioso and then back to baby-kissing in […]

all the morning-people say “hoop hoop”, and all the europeans say “no no”

One thing i noticed this morning again was that Europeans are not afflicted by a purely American form of Sado-masochism called:
“being a morning person”
In Europe the waking minutes before work are solemn homages to minutes of sleep one could have had.  People just don’t talk during those hours.  Try it yourself, try calling up your buddy the […]

Allergologist

after 7 weeks of suffering from allergies  (hayfever etc) i was finally able to get an appointment with my local allergologist.  he’s a  swiss-canadian who lived a major part of his life in the u.s.a.  the inevitable destination of our conversation was, “why did you leave north america?”.
his answers were quite typical: “driving, or being […]

One Reason I came to Europe

i am remembering why i am in europe tonight.
a long time ago i saw some videos at midnight on mtv2 or m2, from
air, stardust, daft punk,
and instantly knew where i had to go.  away from gangsta rap vs aggressive rock north america, and to the centre of pop, western europe.
thanks to youtube, i am now […]

My Campaign Against Emoticons

I’m liberal in most senses but in terms of writing I tend to fall on the conservative side.  i rarely (ever?) think emoticons are useful.  if the writer needs to resort to smileys, etc. then the writing needs to be improved.  words shall reign supreme.  (Parentheses are even borderline in my book).
If the “pen is mightier than […]
